SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women's water polo team has officially released its schedule for its upcoming 2019 season, head coach Serela Kay announced this week.
The Gauchos will open their 2019 campaign in Santa Barbara as hosts of the annual UCSB Winter Invite from Jan. 18-20. However, they will get their first taste of competitive action during the fall at the UC Irvine Fall Invite on Nov. 17.
Following the Winter Invite, Santa Barbara will take part in four non-conference tournaments prior to the start of Big West play. First up will be the Sun Devil Invite (Jan. 25-27), hosted by Arizona State. February will see the Gauchos take part in both the UC San Diego Triton Invite (Feb. 9-10) and the Barbara Kalbus Invitational (Feb. 22-24) in Irvine, Calif.
UCSB will open the month of March by competing at the Claremont Convergence on Friday, Mar. 2, exactly one week before opening conference play at home versus UC Irvine in a noon matchup.
Following two more non-conference road dates with CSU Monterey Bay (Mar. 26) and Sonoma State (Mar. 28), the Gauchos will close out their regular season slate with four straight Big West opponents. They will be on the road to face UC Davis (Mar. 30), CSUN (Apr. 6) and Hawaii (Apr. 13) before hosting Long Beach State (Apr. 20) in their final game of the regular season.
The Big West Championships will take place one week later in Long Beach from Apr. 26-28.
