UCSB Falls to No. 2 Stanford

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - No. 17 UC Santa Barbara was defeated by No. 2 Stanford today at the UCSB Recreational Center Pool,14-2. Gillian Morgan and Kathryn Nelson led the Gauchos offensively with a goal a piece. Goalie, Jenny Gonzales finished with a total of seven saves for the Gauchos.

Stanford came out strong scoring eight goals in the first two quarters while UCSB went scoreless. With the score 8-0 at the start of the third Stanford chipped in another two goals increasing their lead 10-0. Morgan ended the Gaucho's scoreless streak, scoring on a six on five power play. UCSB held Stanford to three goals for the duration of the third quarter.

Stanford led 11-1 at the start of the fourth. Stanford added another three goals in the finals minutes of the game. Nelson took advantage of another man up opportunity scoring the final goal for the Gauchos. The game ended with a 14-2 Stanford victory.

UCSB currently holds an overall record of 4-10 and is 0-4 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. UCSB will face No. 10 San Jose State at 12pm tomorrow at the UCSB Recreational Center Pool.
