11th Ranked UCSB Ends Losing Streak With a 7-6 Win Over No. 18 Northridge

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara defeated Cal State Northridge ending a five game loosing streak and making the Gauchos 13-14 overall and 3-7 in MPSF. Jen D'Anna contributed four goals toward the UCSB's win.

The Gauchos managed to shut out the Matadors for the entire first quarter, hitting the back of the cage four times. During the second quarter the Matadors scored their first goal bringing the score to 4-1, Gauchos.

Northridge rattled the cage twice in the third quarter. The Gauchos retaliated after 13 scoreless minutes. The Matadors brought themselves within one goal of the Gauchos with a penalty goal, but UCSB snuck one more in. The score was 6-4, Gauchos at the end of the third quarter. Northridge scored two more goals and the Gauchos one more in the fourth quarter. The Matadors outscored the UCSB 5-3 in the second half, but the Gauchos still managed to take the win 7-6.

The Gauchos continue action today at 3:00 p.m. with their Alumni Game. Saturday, April 15 they are on the road again against San Diego State and UC San Diego.
