This Week In Water Polo
No.12 UC Santa Barbara will travel to Long Beach to take on No. 14 Long Beach State in its first conference game this Saturday. The Gauchos and 49ers have had similar seasons thus far both standing with overall records of 4-2. Long Beach finished just under UCSB's 4th place finish, claiming 6th place at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational. This Saturday's conference match-up will be a true test for both the Gauchos and 49ers.

Gauchos Finish Fourth at Triton Invitational
UCSB opened the Triton Invitational with two wins, which included defeating No. 13 ranked Hartwick in overtime (15-15) and defeating No. 11 UC Davis (8-6). Lizzie Rouleau led the Gauchos with four goals against the Hawks and Gillian Morgan led the Gauchos in goals with four against the Aggies. The Gauchos were unable to continue their four game winning streak as the fell to both No. 6 San Diego State University (8-6) and No. 10 UC Irvine (10-5) on Sunday. Christie Clark led the Gauchos with two goals against the Aztecs and Morgan led the Gauchos with three goals against the Anteaters. The Gauchos finished the UC San Diego Triton Invitational with a fourth place finish.

Senior Standout
Senior goalkeeper Jenny Gonzales had a standout performance during the weekend's UC San Diego Triton Invitational. The senior played all four games with a total of 26 blocks. Gonzales now holds an average of 6.3 saves per game with a total of 38 saves so far this season.

Gaucho Offense
Morgan leads the Gauchos in scoring with a total of 17 goals,averaging 2.83 goals per game. Clark holds a total of 10 goals with an average of 1.67 goals per game. Senior Lindsay Knott and Freshman Katie Kepner both have a six game scoring streak. Knott stands with a total of nine goals and Kepner with a total of eight goals. Together these scoring leaders will build a strong offense for the Gauchos this season.

Coming Attractions
The Gauchos will travel to Long Beach State to take on the No. 14 49ers, Saturday Feb., 16 in their first conference game. After this MPSF match-up, the team will participate in the UC Irvine Tournament Saturday, Feb. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 24. This tournament schedule has yet to be released.
