This Week In Water Polo
No. 18 UC Santa Barbara will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to face No. 5 Hawaii this Saturday, March 15, at 3 pm. The Gauchos now have an overall record of 4-12, and are 0-6 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Admidst a twelve-game losing streak, five of which were lost within a two point margin, the Gauchos are eager for a win. With seven more conference games left in the season, Saturday's match-up will be the Gauchos' third to last game on the road. The contest will take place at the University of Hawaii's Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

Scouting the Rainbows
The fifth ranked Rainbows currently hold an overall record of 9-3 and are 3-0 in MPSF. Hawaii is amidst a two game winning streak after defeating No. 11 Loyola Marymount (8-7), and No. 10 UC Davis (6-5) on the last day of the UC Irvine Invitational, Sunday, February 24th. Junior utility, Kelly Mason, leads the Rainbows in scoring with a total of 25 goals. She is ranked 7th of MPSF leading scorers with an average of 2.08 goals per game. After a three week break, Saturday's game vs. the Gauchos will begin a long home stand for the Rainbows.

Gauchos Lose Three Straight
The Gauchos suffered three straight losses this past week against No.2 Stanford(14-2), No. 9 San Jose State (6-5), and No. 6 San Diego State (10-8). In the first match up of a two game home stand, the Gauchos struggled offensively against second ranked Stanford, Friday, March 7. The Gauchos finished with only two goals after two scoreless first and second quarters. Gillian Morgan and Kathryn Nelson each scored a goal for UCSB.
Friday's defeat was followed by a one point loss against No.9 San Jose State (6-5) on Saturday, March 8. The Gauchos stepped up offensively scoring a total of five goals. Gillian Morgan, Kathryn Nelson, Lindsay Knott, Claire Buchanan, and Lizzie Rouleau each scored a goal for the Gauchos. Morgan made an impressive pool length shot, putting the Gauchos within one point of the Spartans at the start of the fourth quarter. After a close battle, the Gauchos lost 6-5.
Sunday, March 9, UCSB traveled to San Diego, and lost 10-8 to No. 6 San Diego State. Christie Clark scored an impressive four goals for the Gauchos and Gillian Morgan added two. Katie Kepner and Amanda Tipton each had a goal a piece. Goalie, Jenny Gonzales finished with a total of six saves.

Coming Attractions
Friday, March 28, UCSB will travel to Los Angeles to take on No. 3 University of Southern California. The game will be held at McDonald's Swim Stadium, at 5:00 pm.
