UC Santa Barbara Men Sweep Competition for First Place, Women Take Fourth

RIVERSIDE, Calif. 

UC Santa Barbara Men's Cross Country finished first edging out Southern Utah 53-59…The women took a solid fourth place with 90 points following Southern Utah (31), UC Riverside (76) and Nike Team Run LA (76).

Bhavik Kanzaria (24:35.1) and Juan Paredes (24:37.5) both finished in the top-ten in order to help the UC Santa Barbara Men to a first place finish…Women's team captain Dani Moreno ran into a steady fourth place in the Women's 6K run with a time of 20:44.2.

Cassie Brooker and Christine Cooperstein ran together in the 6K race with the former finishing 17th in a time 21:19.2 of and the latter finishing closely behind in 18th at 21:19.5.

Bryan Guijaro (11th place in 25:51.4), Shyan Vaziri (14th place in 24:53.7), Baxter Frick (16th place in 24:55.5), Anthony Ortolan (17th in 24:55.9), Abel Mogesse (18th in 24:56.9) and Bryce Rausa (20th in 25:00.3) rounded out the top twenty for the Gauchos in the 8K.

The Gauchos return to action on Saturday, September 29th in Palo Alto at the Stanford Invite.
