UCSB Men's Team has Many Top Runners Looking to Break Out

Sophomore Jeremy Acosta and Junior Juan Paredes are among ten of the top UCSB runners who are expected to do very well this weekend at the Stanford Invite. There are a total of 10 Gauchos fighting for the top seven spots and this weekend's meet should help determine that list. Other Gauchos to look out for include Abel Mogesse, Anthony Ortolan, Andrew Farkas, Baxter Frick and Bhavik Kanzaria. Keep a special eye out for freshman Brian Guijarro from Palmdale…he is expected to have a breakout race this weekend based off of his top seven finishes from the past two cross country meets. The Gauchos are using this meet to gear up for Nationals.

UCSB Women to Watch Out For

Juniors Dani Moreno and Christine Cooperstein are expected to keep their momentum going to finish out as top UCSB runners this weekend. Other top seven scorers expected to gain points for the Gauchos include Sarah Schreck and Maxine Goyette. Due to the size and competitiveness of the meet, this weekend will be a challenge for Santa Barbara, but they will use their strength they've been building this season to push for the best outcome.

Gauchos as a Whole

The UCSB men's and women's cross-country teams used the mammoth team trip to form bonds and connections to each other in order to build a stronger team. The Gauchos are feeling strong, fast and ready to race for this weekends Invitational. Both the men's and women's teams will use this meet to gear up for the 2012 Cross Country Nationals.
