Trio of Gauchos Finish in Top-100 at Pre-National Meet in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Dani Moreno ran a 6k time of 21:14.8 to finish 67th out of 265 runners at the NCAA Division I Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday.  Moreno's effort helped the UC Santa Barbara women to a 20th-place finish among 38 schools at the prestigious meet.

In addition to Moreno, the Gauchos had two other top-100 finishers.  Cassie Brooker finished eight spots behind her teammate in 75th-place, clocking 21:23.1.  Christine Cooperstein ran 21:29.8 to finish 90th.

Rounding out UCSB's lineup were Ari Selix (162nd-place in 22:04.6), Jessica Chadwick (181st-place in 22:16.0), Bailey Miller (186th-place in 22:22.6) and Courtney Lightfoot (205th-place in 22:42.3).

The meet was won by Wichita State's Alphine Tuliamuk-Bolton who ran a 19:43.9 to edge UTEP's Risper Kimaiyo who clocked a 19:46.0.

Florida State seized the team title by a margin of 72-87 over second-place Oregon.

UCSB returns to action on Friday, Oct. 19 when it travels to the Fullerton Invitational.  The race at Fullerton will be the final tune-up before the Big West Championship meet at Riverside on Oct. 27.
