Tsolis exploded onto the running scene as a sophomore in 2014, taking second at the Big West Championships in the 1,500m and earning a bid to the NCAA First Round. She followed that with a stellar junior season. lowering her best to 4:21.95, good for #2 AT at UCSB, again earning her a ticket to the NCAA First Round. A fearless last lap racer, Tsolis is worth the price of admission each time she is scheduled to toe the line.
Competed in ten meets for the Gauchos during her junior track season. Opened with wins at the Round-Up in the mile (5:04.56) and at the All-UC in the 1,500m (4:39.34). She ran 4:36.97 to place ninth at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic. Ran 4:36.83 to place eighth at the Stanford Invitational in her heat. Sparkled under the Fullerton lights, completing the 8-15 double at the Big West Challenge Cup. Her 1,500m winning time was 4:31.83 and her 800m time was 2:11.33. Dropped her then-best in the 1,500m to 4:25.47 at the Bryan Clay Invite and followed that up three weeks later at the OXY Invite with a 4:21.95 gem, making her the #2 All-Time UCSB performer in the event. Placed fourth in a blazing fast Big West 1,500m final with a 4:27.17 clip. Made it through the qualifying rounds at the NCAA First Round in the 1,500m, placing 20th in Q with a 4:28.75 effort. Finished 24th overall in the semis with a 4:31.66 effort.
2014 Cross Country
Tsolis competed in six competitions during her junior cross campaign. Running No. 5 for the Gauchos at the UC Riverside Invite, Tsolis finished her first 6k of the year in 22:25.8, placing 52nd in a field of 172 runners. She crossed the line at the Stanford Invite in 23:38.4, No. 7 for the Gauchos and 155th overall in a field of 329. Finished 55th out of 172 runners at the Santa Clara Invite, running a strong 21:42.9 6k clip. Ran No. 9 for the Gauchos at the Big West Championships, placing 37th in 22:28.6. Ran No. 2 for the Gauchos at the NCAA West Regional, placing 114th in 22:20.7.
2013-2014 Outdoor Track
Ran in ten races for the Gauchos, culminating with her first appearance at the NCAA First Round via her PR silver medals performance at the Big West Championships. Tsolis went wire to wire with UC Davis' Raquel Lambdin, a strong 8-15 runner, and narrowly lost at the end running 4:24.81. Her time qualified her for the NCAA First Round in Fayetteville. Tsolis won a thrilling 1,500m at the Cal Poly Dual, running 4:26.76, kicking hard in the San Luis Obispo afternoon wind. She also claimed victory at the Big West Challenge Cup in the 1,500m with a clip of 4:31.50.
Finished second at the Westmont Collegiate Classic in the 800m. Took 6th at the Cal Poly Dual meet in the 800m. Ran a lifetime best 4:40.79 in the 1500m at the Oxy Invitational. Ran a seasons best in the 800m at 2:18.76.
Tsolis was MVP all four seasons on the Presentation High School Track and Field team...Placed third in CCS as a senior in the 800m with a time of 2:15.04...Placed 13th as a senior at the California State preliminaries with a time of 2:12.82...Western Catholic Athletic League Champion in the 800m for her sophomore, junior and senior year...2010 and 2011 1600m WCAL champion.
Daughter of Lisa and Nick Tsolis...has two brothers, Michael and Nick...Majoring in Environmental Studies...Chose UCSB because she wants to make herself the best athlete she can be...Enjoys going to the beach and watching San Jose Sharks hockey games...Favorite movies are any with Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller or Mike Myers, Finding Nemo and Toy Story.
