Red-Hot UCSB Zips Past Chicago State, 96-65

RENO, Nev. – The UC Santa Barbara women's basketball team ended its run at the 2019 Nugget Classic with a 96-65 win against Chicago State at Lawlor Events Center on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman center Ila Lane recorded another double-double, her fifth of the season, as the Gauchos won their fourth game of the season.

Seven of the ten Gaucho players that saw the court in the first quarter of action scored as the Gauchos went up 29-14 after the first ten minutes.

Santa Barbara's best offensive performance came in the third quarter, when the Gauchos again had seven different players scored, led by both sophomore center Megan Ormiston and redshirt senior Coco Miller's six points in the quarter.

The Gauchos' 96 points are the most they're scored in a game this season.

Redshirt junior guard Tal Sahar scored a career-high 22 points, while Lane picked up 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior guard Danae Miller nearly had a double-double of her down, scoring 10 points and dropping eight assists.

Over the course of the game, UCSB accrued 35 points from its bench players.

At the conclusion of the Nugget Classic, Lane was named to the all-tournament team.

UCSB returns home for its annual toy drive game against Pacific on Thursday night at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on BigWest.TV.
