UCSB Falls to San Diego in Final Game of Series

Box Score

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara softball team couldn't slow down San Diego early in the final game of a three-game road series Sunday at USD Softball Complex, as the Toreros reeled off six second inning runs in an eventual 8-1 win.

The Gauchos (6-24) matched their hit total from Saturday's games, finishing with six, but could only turn it into one run midway through the game. Freshman Tyler Goldstein put UCSB on the board in the top of the fourth, scoring on a Carissa Felix single.

However, by that point, USD had a 6-0 lead, all runs coming in the second. A three-run triple from Sara Silveyra highlighted the Toreros' biggest inning of the weekend. They would add another pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth and went on to finish with nine hits.

Junior Kayla Krantz led UCSB's offense with a 2-of-2 mark at the plate, giving her three hits for the weekend. Teah Thies, Genesis Ramirez and Carissa Felix and Alyssa Lazatin all tallied one hit apiece.

The Gauchos will play their fourth game in three days tomorrow in a 6:00 p.m. game at No. 1 UCLA's Easton Stadium.
