SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara Athletics has announced that the Legends of the ‘Dome inductions will return during the 2024-25 academic year along with several initiatives to celebrate, recognize and connect all past and present Gauchos.
The Legends of the ‘Dome program began to honor legendary Gauchos and their performances in The Thunderdome over the last 45 years. The first induction took place in 2009 with the most recent unveiling occurring in 2014.
During a halftime ceremony on Feb. 10, 2024, Director of Athletics Kelly Barsky announced the reintroduction of this program along with a sneak peek at two of the Gauchos that will earn their spot in the 2024-25 class: Gabe Vincent and Orlando Johnson. These two, along with other legendary Gauchos, will earn their permanent place in The Thunderdome during a ceremony next academic year.
A new Legends of the ‘Dome web page with a list of current and future Legends will be revealed later this year. The additional initiatives above will also be released later this year.
