ON THE STAT SHEET
- There were 13 different Gauchos who saw the floor on Thursday and 11 who scored, both of which were highs for the year. Senior center Ila Lane scored a team-leading 17 points (7-10 FG) in a season-low 16 minutes and tied a personal-best with three blocks.
- Sophomore guard Kennedy Johnson was very active off the bench, reaching double-figures for the second time as a Gaucho with a career-high 16 points on 6-for-9 from the field. She also tallied five rebounds and three steals and was 2-of-3 on threes.
- As a team, UCSB shot 8-of-24 from deep, one shy of its most three-pointers this year. The Gauchos also set season-highs in assists (26), steals (14) and blocks (9).
- Earning the most minutes of her freshman season with 19, guard Skylar Burke handled the ball for a good chunk of the night, scoring a season-best eight points off the bench.
- Two Gaucho sophomores made their season debuts, as forward Laurel Rockwood scored four points and guard Kathleen Hutchens saw the court for the final four minutes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Warriors (3-7) scored the first four points of the night, the Gauchos would take control. Back-to-back threes by Alyssa Marin and Burke capped an 8-0 run and the home side never looked back.
- Senior guard Alexis Tucker layed it in off a sweet dime inside by Johnson with just over a minute left in the first, putting UCSB up 22-10 to finish off its second 8-0 run of the period.
- The Gauchos picked up the pressure from there, smothering the Warriors up and down the floor while forcing 11 of their 26 turnovers in the second quarter alone.
- UCSB went into halftime leading 42-16 after allowing just two points in the period. Lane scored nine of her game-high 17 on a perfect 3-for-3 from the field.
- The Gaucho bench mob was able to get valuable playing time down the stretch as the lead would grow to as many as 31 points in the fourth.
