Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Although they outhit their opponents 8-7, the UC Santa Barbara softball team fell to CSUN 12-3 this afternoon. The Gauchos finished the 2022 season with an overall record of 15-39 and a 6-21 record in conference.
Following the conclusion of the game, seniors Teah Thies, Ally Nodohara, Maci Fines, Sammy Fabian, and Rayna Cohen were recognized for their contributions and dedication to the UCSB softball program.
On the Stat Sheet
• Ally Nodohara went 2-for-2 at the plate and also picked up her 18th hit of the season.
• Heavy hitter Maci Fines roped her sixth triple of the season and is now ranked first in the Big West. Fines also collected two RBIs.
• Junior Sam Denehy had a pair of hits and a single run, finishing up the season with a .358 batting average.
• Pitcher Lexy Mills (5-15) notched four Ks in today's contest and registered a single. She finished her junior campaign with a .367/.384/.494 slash line.
• Both Tyler Goldstein and Daryn Siegel contributed to the eight gaucho hits, both notching a single apiece.
How It Happened
• Both teams were held scoreless and hitless in the first inning, but just like in the other two contests of the series, CSUN was the first to get on the board with two runs in the second inning. The Gauchos had an unanswered bottom half
• The top of the third saw four walks and five hits for the Matadors to put up 10 runs. Their efforts were capped off with a grand slam by Kennedi Sorensen to increase their lead to 12-0.
• Maci Fines' two-out triple in the bottom of the third drove in two runs for the Gauchos. Then, pinch-hitter Daryn Siegel singled in a run with two outs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Matadors' advantage by nine.
• The run-rule came into effect in the fifth when the Gauchos weren't able to produce any more runs and the game ended 12-3.
