RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara softball team dropped the rubber match against UC Riverside 8-0 today at Amy S. Harrison Softball Field. The Gauchos' record moved to 15-36 on the season and 6-18 in Big West Play.

On the Stat Sheet
• Senior Maci Fines registered her 51st hit of the season - setting a new career high. 
• Teah Thies was the only other Gaucho to tally a hit today, making it the 28th of her senior campaign. 

How It Happened
• A five-run first inning and two-run third propelled UC Riverside to take a quick lead in the final game of the series. 
• The Gauchos were limited to a single hit in the second from Thies and another hit from Fines in the third. Unfortunately, this would be the only two hits recorded for Santa Barbara. 
• Another run was tacked on by the Highlanders in the fifth to increase their lead to 8-0. The game would end then due to the run rule.

Next Up
The Gauchos will finish up their regular season with a three-game home series against CSUN next weekend starting with a doubleheader on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 1pm.
