FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Feb. 16, 2023) – The UC Santa Barbara Women's Indoor Track and Field team will compete in their final regular season meet of the season as they compete at the NAU Tune Up. The Gauchos will hit the snowy mountain tops in Flagstaff, Arizona as they prep to take on some tough competition.
This one-day meet will kick off at 2 p.m. MST with the field events with the long jump and the weight throw before the running events begin at 3:45 p.m. The team is taking 18 of its members to compete in this meet including Mariana Lanz, who is coming off record-breaking performances in the 200 and 400-meter dashes at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, and Jessica Swalve, who finished in eighth in the heptathlon. Joining them will be Jiana Boston, Jessica Boyd, Emma Barthel, Madeleine Conte, Paige Damron, Kennedy Johnson, Amor Jones, Savannah Mbamo, Abigail Monti, Chika Nwachukwu, Amanda Spear and Isabelle Woody.
Despite the 7,500-foot elevation of the track, the team will be in a field amongst strong competition where they are also slated highly in their heats and flights. Strong performances at this meet could put members of this Gaucho squad in good standing for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
