HONOLULU (March 16, 2023) — UC Santa Barbara Softball (13-8) will kick off Big West play this weekend as they travel across the Pacific Ocean to take on Hawai'i (17-9) in a single game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday.
The Gauchos come into the weekend after going 3-1 at their last tournament, Fresno State's Bulldog Classic, where they captured wins over Utah Tech (twice) and Fresno State. The Gauchos enter the series ranked first in the nation in triples (18), 20th in on-base percentage (.397), and 32nd in batting average (.314). Madelyn McNally, Chloe Stewart, Ashley Donaldson, and Korie Thomas all rank in the top 20 individually in triples, combining for 14 of the 18 UCSB triples.
Santa Barbara and Hawai'i open their series with a single game on Friday, March 17 at 9 p.m. Pacific time. The teams will then play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 18 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Pacific time. Live stats for all three games will be available through ucsbgauchos.com.
