HONOLULU (March 17, 2023) – The UC Santa Barbara Softball team (14-8) started off their Big West opening series on the right note defeating Hawai'i 5-2. The Gauchos were led by Camryn Snyder who threw seven strong innings collecting her seventh win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The middle innings proved to be the difference in the game as UCSB scored a single run in three consecutive innings. The Gaucho offense was led by Ashley Donaldson who went 4-for-4 in the win with an RBI-single in the fourth to put Santa Barbara up 3-0. Daryn Siegel went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI in the game, and a run scored which included an RBI double in the seventh to add
insurance for UCSB.
Camryn Snyder pitched a complete game allowing just two runs on four hits. The junior struck out seven hitters over her seven innings of work en route to collecting her seventh victory of the season.
LOOKING AT THE NUMBERS
- Ashley Donaldson is now one of three Gauchos with at least 16 games played to have a batting average at .400 or better.
- UCSB is currently riding a four-game winning streak with the victory over Hawai'i on Friday.
- After earning her seventh win of the season Snyder is now tied for third in the Big West in wins.
