Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 27, 2023) – The UC Santa Barbara softball team earned a series win over UC San Diego after winning the series finale in comeback fashion. The Gauchos plated two runs in the top of the seventh to ultimately defeat the Tritons 2-1.
Both offenses were held scoreless for the first four innings of play with Ava Bradford and UC San Diego's Jada Cecil allowing a combined four hits over the four innings.
In the bottom of the fifth the Tritons would gain the upper hand as the leadoff batter homered down the right-field line to give them a 1-0 lead.
After a 1-2-3 sixth inning for both teams moved the game to the seventh where the Santa Barbara offense came through. After a walk by Daryn Siegel and a bunt single by Jazzy Santos the Gauchos had all the momentum on their side. A sacrifice bunt moved Siegel and Santos up a base before Hannah Damore singled up the middle scoring both Gaucho baserunners and taking a 2-1 lead. UCSB could not plate another run and took a narrow lead to the bottom of the seventh.
The Gauchos shut down the Tritons in the seventh, after the leadoff batter got aboard Bradford got two quick outs. A single put some pressure on the Gauchos but they held strong recording the final out of the game the very next batter.

The Gauchos will host Cal Poly for a three-game set on April 1 and April 2. UCSB and Cal Poly will play a doubleheader on April 1 and a single game on April 2.
