CLEVELAND, Ohio (April 18, 2023) - The Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) is proud to announce the 21st Annual Scholar-Athlete Team members, presented by ARMS Software. Ila Lane of the UC Santa Barbara Women's Basketball team was named to the Women's Scholar-Athlete Team.
Ila Lane started all 33 games for the Gauchos, averaging 31 minutes, and 11.8 points while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor. The senior is a sociology major maintaining a 3.7-grade point average. Lane was most recently named Big West Academic All-Conference to go along with being named 2023 All-Big West First Team.
"I am excited to congratulate this year's men's and women's scholar-athlete teams as well as those selected to receive postgraduate scholarship awards," stated Division I-AAA 2nd Vice President, I-AAA Scholar-Athlete Team Selection Committee Chair and Director of Athletics at the University of North Carolina Asheville, Janet R. Cone. "The dedication that these individuals demonstrate both on the court and off is a testament to their work ethic shown during the demands of the basketball season."
Basketball players from all Division I-AAA ADA member institutions are eligible for these prestigious annual awards. Each nominee must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials. Nominees must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games listed on the nomination form. To be eligible for nomination to the Scholar-Athlete Team, individuals must have reached junior academic standing at their respective institution (ineligible athletics transfers are not eligible).
