Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif (Sunday, April 2) – After winning both games of the doubleheader yesterday, the Gauchos completed a three-game sweep over Cal Poly defeating the Mustangs 8-6 in the series finale.
The Gaucho offense came out swinging in the opening inning scoring four runs on five hits to take an early 4-0 lead. Following a scoreless second by both teams Cal Poly cut into the UCSB lead scoring three in the inning. The Mustangs would then tie the game up in the fourth on an RBI single down the left field line.
After the Mustangs tied the game, UC Sant Barbara took control of the game in the middle innings. In the bottom of the fourth the Gauchos scored three runs on four hits. Alexa Sams, Jazzy Santos, and Hannah Damore all drove in runs in the inning. UCSB tacked one on in the fifth for a little insurance.
Cal Poly plated two in the top of the sixth to pull within to, but the Gauchos stopped the threat there and closed the game out winning 8-6 and sweeping the Mustangs to earn their fifth straight victory.

UC Santa Barbara will travel to Bakersfield, Calif. Next Friday and Saturday to take on CSU Bakersfield in a three-game series. Friday, April 7 will be a single game with first pitch at 12 p.m. (noon).
