Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (April 29, 2023) – The UC Santa Barbara Softball team (25-17, 12-9) played the final game of a series with the UC Davis Aggies after going 1-1 against them yesterday. Today, the Gauchos wrapped up the final game against the Aggies with another win, taking the series 2-1 as they won today's game 5-3.
From the very first inning, the Gauchos had control of the game. With Alexa Sams bringing home two runs and Daryn Siegel bringing home another, UC Santa Barbara was able to score three runs in the first inning alone. This was before Bella Fuentes and Ashley Donaldson each recorded home runs to make the score 5-1 by the end of the third inning. Even though the Aggies were able to grab two more runs in the second half of the game, it wasn't enough to take the win from the Gauchos. UC Santa Barbara took the win 5-3.
Donaldson finished with the most runs in today's game, putting up two between her home run and Siegel's double in the first inning while Madelyn McNally, Sam Denehy and Fuentes each scored a run apiece. On defense, Donaldson and Korie Thomas were tied for the most putouts with five each while McNally had the most assists with three. From the circle, Camryn Snyder led the Gauchos as she struck out five Aggies across seven innings.
The Gauchos will be back in Campus Diamond for their final home series of Big West play against the UC Riverside Highlanders. There will be a double header on Friday, May 5 with Senior Day taking place on Saturday, May 6.
