Box Score BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Friday, April 7) – The UC Santa Barbara Softball Team rallied late in the game to extend their winning streak to six games and earn their 20th win of the season. This marks the first time since 2018 the Gauchos have earned 20 wins in a season.
Bakersfield took an early lead with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the second inning. After the home run the game was a pitcher's duel with the Gauchos and Roadrunners not scoring another run until the seventh inning.
Both pitchers were able to work out of trouble and keep the game a one-run game. As the game moved to the top of the seventh the Gauchos come up clutch multiple times scoring three runs, all with two outs in the innings.
With two outs in the inning and a runner on first, Sam Denehy singled to keep the game alive. Madelyn McNally followed that up with a single of her own bringing in the tying run. A wild pitch brought home Denehy to take a 2-1 lead before Donaldson doubled to left center to bring in the third Gaucho run. With the first lead of the game, the Gauchos went to the bottom of the seventh.
In the bottom of the inning, Camryn Snyder worked around two base runners to close out the game and earn her ninth win of the season.
