Andrew Checketts announced his team's schedule for the 2024 season on Tuesday. The Gauchos' 56-game slate consists of 15 weekend series plus 11 mid-week contests and features long-standing series and matchups with some of the top programs in the country.
Santa Barbara will begin the season on Feb. 16 in North Carolina, playing a three-game series against reigning two-time Big South Champions and NCAA Regional participants Campbell, which ranked as high as No. 9 in the nation last season. The Gauchos then return to the West Coast for a midweek contest against Pepperdine in Malibu on Feb. 20 before beginning their first and longest homestand of the season.
The Gauchos will welcome Sacramento State to Caesar Uyesaka Stadium for a three-game series beginning on Feb. 23, starting a four-week, 15-game homestand that extends into mid-March. Following their series against the Hornets, Santa Barbara will host St. Mary's in a mid-week contest, then a weekend series against Pac-12 Champions and Super Regional hosts Oregon, March 1-3. A pair of schools from the East Coast will then pay a visit to Santa Barbara, with Villanova taking on the Gauchos on March 5 and 2023 NCAA Regional participant UConn March 8-10. The final week of homestand one will see Santa Barbara host UNLV on March 12 before beginning conference play with a three-game series against Long Beach State, March 15-17.
The Gauchos' lone road trip in the month of March comes next, as they will make the short trip north to face Cal Poly in the Blue-Green Rivalry series March 22-24, then a trip south on March 26 to face UCLA in Los Angeles.
The second homestand of the season will also be a four-game set as the calendar turns from March to April. Santa Barbara will host its final non-conference series of the year March 28-30, welcoming back the San Jose State Spartans. The Gauchos then kick off the month of April with a mid-week contest against California Baptist on April 2.
A road trip to face UC Irvine in Orange County, April 5-7, is the only thing between the Gauchos and more home games, as they kick off homestand number three following the series against the Anteaters. Santa Barbara will renew one of their longest-standing non-conference rivalries on April 9, welcoming LMU to town for what will be the 146
th meeting between the two teams. The Gauchos will then host Hawai'i, April 12-14, before wrapping up the homestand against UCLA on April 16.
After hosting the Bruins, Santa Barbara will hit the road again, heading north to take on UC Davis, April 19-21, then concluding their season series against LMU on April 23 in Los Angeles. The Gauchos' final homestand of April is a three-game series against Cal State Fullerton, April 26-28. Santa Barbara will make a quick trip to Riverside to round out the month, paying a visit to California Baptist on April 30.
May begins with the penultimate homestand of the season, as the Gauchos will host defending Big West Champions UC San Diego from May 3-5, then host Pepperdine in the final mid-week game of the season on May 7.
Santa Barbara's final road trip will take them to Cal State Bakersfield, May 10-12, and CSUN, May 17-19, before they return home to finish the season against UC Riverside, May 23-25.
