FULLERTON, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara Track and Field had a productive day today at the Challenge Cup, with multiple first place finishes and personal records characterizing the Gauchos' visit to Cal State Fullerton.
TRACK
Tyler Holl had a stellar first place finish in the 110m Hurdles and set a personal record of 14.24s. Dario Rock also had a great race, coming in second with a personal best of 14.26s. Maddie Conte earned fourth place in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 14.09s.
Conte proceeded with her outstanding day, winning first place in the 400m Hurdles with 1:02.12. Alison Tjoe came in second in the event with 1:03.80, followed by Abigail Monti with 1:04.27. Danielle Hollander placed fifth in her first 1500m with UC Santa Barbara, with a time of 4:49.14.
Matthew Staples had a sixth place finish in the 100m Dash with 10.94s. Holl placed second in the 400mH with 55.05s, while Finn Andrews came in fourth with 55.89s.
Both the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams placed second, ending with times of 3:16.69 and 3:50.10, respectively. The men's 4x100 team also finished in second place with their time of 41.71s.
FIELD
Eitan Goore had another first place finish in the Pole Vault with a jump of 5.11m. Collin Young had a personal best of 4.36m in the Pole Vault.
Emma Barthel had a standout third place in Long Jump with a leap of 5.68m. Kennedy Johnson tied for first in the Triple Jump with her 11.60m effort.
Katie Meade also had an impressive third place finish with 1.56m in the High Jump. Brad Thomas placed fourth and Matthew Molina fifth in the High Jump, each with leaps of 1.86m.
Andy Buttrell placed third in the Shot Put with a personal best of 55.67m. Christopher Nora had a personal best of 13.99m in the Shot Put. Jackson Trimble placed sixth in the Discus with 50.20m and Christopher Nora eighth with a heave of 47.92m.
Isabella Vally placed fourth in the Javelin with her hurl of 33.12m. Cassidy Faulkner placed second in the Discus, while Kayla Yap threw a personal record of 38.33m in the event.
The Gauchos' next stop is the Mark Conover Classic, which will be held at Cal Poly on March 22 and 23.
