SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara Track returned to their home base this week for the UC Santa Barbara Invite. After three days on the pitch, the Gauchos finished an incredible and dominant week.
TRACK
TJ Bryson placed second in the 1500m with a time of 3:52.73. Dario Rock came in first in the 110m Hurdles, followed by Matthew Molina in second with a personal record of 14.65s and Finn Andrews in third, who set a personal record of 15.13s
Maddie Conte came in first in the 100mh with a new personal record of 13.95s while Alison Tjoe finished second with a time of 14.90s. Sophia Pardo finished in first place and secured a personal best of 56.52s in 400m dash. Aidan Mosley also claimed first in the 400m Dash with a time of 49.32s.
Amor Jones placed second with a time of 12.23 in 100m dash. She also came in first in the 200 dash with 25.67s. Matthew Staples finished first and set a personal record in 100m with 10.71s and was followed by Justin Fong in second with 10.79s. They repeated the feat in the 200m, with Staples coming in first and scoring a personal record of 21.61, followed by Justin Fong with a time of 22.09.
Maya Lacamp won the 800m and set a new personal record with her time of 2:16.40. Ben Pinkel came in second for the 800m with a time of 1:52.40. Maddie Conte won the 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:02.20, Alison Tjoe came in second with a time of 1:02.32, and Abigail Monti came in third with a time of 1:02.92.
FIELD
Eitan Goore's outstanding performance in the Pole Vault set a new UC Santa Barbara Pole Vault record at 5.30m. Goore tied the previous record of 5.25m in 2023m which has stood for 13 years, before taking the program to new heights with his jump today. Madison Pelfrey landed in third place in the Women's Pole Vault with a height of 3.50m.
Jessica Swalve won the shot put with a throw of 12.34m as well as the Heptathlon with a score of 5152. Brad Thomas won the decathlon with a score of 7459. Jeramiah Havens came in second in the decathlon with a score of 7048. Those scores are some of the best in the NCAA right now as Swalve is currently No. 1 in the heptathlon while Thomas is No. 1 in the decathlon. Havens's score is also good enough for second in the NCAA in this same category.
Emma Barthel placed first in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.62m. Malia Benson finished third with a 4.85m. Dario Rock finished second in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.74m.
Amanda Spear won the Hammer Throw competing unattached with a heave of 54.50. Cassidy Faulkner came in third in the Hammer Throw and set a personal record of 48.66m. Savannah Mbamo came in fourth with a personal record of 46.85m and Kayla Yap set a new personal best of 45.99m.
Jared Freeman set a new personal record of 63.37m in Hammer Throw competing unattached. Andy Buttrell set a new personal record in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 53.30m
Spear placed second in the discus unattached with 44.27m, followed by Cassidy Faulkner in 4th with 39.54m. Jared Freeman placed first unattached in the Discus with 53.28m, followed by Jackson Trimble in third place with a distance of 49.35m. Christopher Nora scored a personal record of 46.06m in the Discus.
Will Denning set a personal record in the Triple Jump with a 13.99m leap. Kennedy Johnson scored 12.45m in the Triple Jump for a first place spot.
Malia Benson won first place in the Javelin with a throw of 49.51m. Jessica Swalve placed second in the Javelin with a heave of 40.36m. Logan Elliot set a personal record in the Javelin with a mark of 45.26m.
The Gauchos' next stop is Cal State Fullerton for the Challenge Cup on March 15.
