WALNUT, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara Track and Field attended the Mt. SAC Relays, held in Walnut, Calif this week on April 18 and 19. at Mt. San Antonio College. The Gauchos had a smaller squad head to Mt. SAC, but they performed well.
Standout sophomore Kennedy Johnson set another UC Santa Barbara Triple Jump record, breaking the one she set three weeks ago at the Stanford Invite. Johnson leaped 12.72m today, 0.04m further than her last record-setting jump. She finished second in the event, finishing only an inch behind first place USC.
Ben Pinkel placed an outstanding first in the 800m with a personal best of 1:49.93. Pinkel has had consistent top finishes in the event, establishing as a prime runner his sophomore year. His race puts him at No. 7 on the UC Santa Barbara all-time bests in the event, moving him up from No.10, which he grabbed two weeks ago at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. Dylan Manning finished ninth in the event with a time of 1:52.53.
Travis Bryson had a great run in the 1500m, as he placed fourth overall and clocked in at 3:51.60. Jackson Trimble placed eighth in the Discus, tossing it for a distance of 49.59m.
Manny Correia placed an impressive fourth in the 3000S, followed directly by Parker Simmons, who competed in the race for the first time in his collegiate career. Both runners had outstanding times, with 9:21.60 and 9:31.29, respectively.
Tyler Holl and Dario Rock also finished back-to-back in their race, the 110m Hurdles. Holl placed 11th with 14.38s while Rock 12th with 14.44s.
The Gauchos next stop is the Fresno State Invite on April 26 and 27 as the last regular season meet before Big West Championships.
