Track and Field Finishes Regular Season in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara Track and Field attended its final regular season meet this weekend, visiting Clovis, Calif., for the Fresno St. Invite. The team finished strong, securing multiple personal records and placements in the top ten.

Lexi Darley came in third in the 5000m with her time of 18.31.58. Dario Rock came in third in the 110m Hurdles, clocking in at 14.37. 

Sophia Pardo had a productive day, placing seventh in the 400m with a top-ten time of 56.18. Pardo placed tenth and set a new personal record of 24.32 in the 200m. Aoife Hernon followed in 16th with 24.61 in the event. Matthew Staples also set a PR in the 200m, running a 21.43 and placing seventh. Staples also ran well in the 100m, placing sixth at 10.72. Sean Beihoffer finished in 16th out of 34, earning a time of 11.05.

Meagan Kennedy and Alexa Bryson set personal bests in the 800m, with 2:19.80 and 2:22.06, respectively. Leah Mendibles and Nikki Dorostkar had personal records in the 1500m, coming in at 4:56.38 and 5:04.33. Abigail Monti came in fifth in the 400m Hurdles with her time of 1:01.84, while Alison Tjoe set a PR in the event with a new time of 1:02.14 and came in seventh. Tjoe then came in fifth in the 100m Hurdles with 14.84.

The men's 1500 was a successful race, with Hayden Owen ending in seventh with a new personal best of 4:00.33. Zaki Blunt proceeded with 14th place and set a PR of 4:03.88. The men's 5000m was also impressive, as Luca Romero finished in sixth with 15:06.69 and Jake Ratkovich in eighth with 15:15.08.

Field
Maddie Pelfrey placed third in the Pole Vault, jumping a height of 3.56m. Will Denning landed in fourth in the Triple Jump with 14.77, and seventh in the Long Jump with 6.92m. Amor Jones placed tenth in the Long Jump, landing at 5.25m, while Emma Barthel placed sixth in the Long Jump Invite with 5.76m.

Nika Edson set a personal best of 37.86m in the Hammer Throw, and Savannah Mbamo had a personal record in the Discus at 42.33m. Malia Benson placed ninth in the Javelin, hurling a distance of 44.14m. Andy Buttrell threw a sixth-place 14.92m in the Shot Put. Anthony and Jackson Trimble came in back-to-back in the Discus, with Jackson coming in fifth with 50.07m and Anthony sixth with 48.29m. Christopher Nora ended in eighth place with 46.12m in the Discus.  

The Gauchos will now prepare for the Big West Championships, with the Multis taking place on May 3 and 4, and the overall Championships on May 10 and 11, with both held at Cal Poly.
