DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara Softball team were haunted by walks in the series finale against UC Davis. Despite having the same amount of hits as the Aggies the difference in the game was 10 free passes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After going down 2-0, the Gauchos put a run on the board in the third inning to cut their deficit in half. UC Santa Barbara got an RBI single from Alexa Sams, scoring Madelyn McNally from second base. Unfortunately that is all they could muster in the inning.
The Aggies expanded their lead to 6-1 before the Gauchos offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. The Gauchos scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Alana Snow, which tightened the Aggies lead to 6-2. The Gauchos were unable to get any closer, as UC Davis added two runs to their tally on the way to an 8-2 final.
In addition to her three hits, Snow had an RBI to lead the Gauchos. Senior Madelyn McNally put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Junior Alexa Sams also contributed for Santa Barbara, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
