SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Assistant Athletic Trainer, Sierra Moreno, is headed to the FISU World University Championships and will be assisting as an Athletic Trainer for Team USA Beach Volleyball.
The 2024 Championships will run Sept. 2 through Sept. 8 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Moreno, will be traveling with the beach volleyball team starting on Aug. 30 and assist the team as they compete on the international stage.
Moreno was able to gain this unique opportunity from her athletic training mentor, Arbhie Guce. Guce mentored Moreno from the time she was an intern and still to this day in her young professional career. After Guce left Santa Barbara, he worked closely with Team USA's Beach Volleyball development and 2021 Tokyo Olympic teams, which is where the opportunity came about for Moreno.
"I am grateful that a Gaucho connection has led me to such a challenging, rewarding and exciting opportunity. Team USA Beach Volleyball has a reputation for high levels of success at the global scale and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to support the athletes that make that happen. I am excited to represent my country and UC Santa Barbara on the international stage!"
