SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The UC Santa Barbara Swim teams competed in a tri-meet against UC San Diego and Pepperdine on Saturday, showcasing strong individual performances. Freshman
Henry Heit led the charge with a first-place finish in the Men's 200 Yard Butterfly.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gauchos demonstrated strong performances across multiple events at the tri-meet against Pepperdine and UCSD. The men's team secured a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, led by freshmen
Diego Castaneda and sophomore
Michael Petersen. On the women's side, senior
Samantha Banos claimed victory in the 200-yard butterfly and also took first in the 100-yard freestyle. Freshman
Lelia Symington made an impact in the distance events, finishing second in the 1000-yard freestyle and third in the 500-yard freestyle.
The team excelled in the sprint events, with junior
Alexi Zuckerman winning the women's 50-yard freestyle and contributing to the first-place finish in the women's 200-yard freestyle relay alongside
Eugenie Lanilis,
Miranda Stevenson, and
Gretta Callison. Senior Zac Tamusaitis led the men's team with a victory in the 100-yard butterfly. The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team also secured second place. Junior
Jonah Lee and sophomore
Owen Bohi added significant points in the breaststroke events, with Lee finishing second in the 100-yard breaststroke and Bohi placing third in the 200-yard breaststroke.
