Gauchos Head Down To Irvine For Last Meet Before Postseason

IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Men's and Women's Track & Field teams will be competing in the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif. this weekend. The two-day event will take place on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3. Field events will be split evenly across the two days and distance events will primarily commence on Friday while sprints, hurdles, and relays will happen on Saturday.

MEET SCHEDULE

On Friday afternoon, the former half of the field events will be underway, with the first competition starting at 12 p.m. The javelin, hammer, long jump, and men's pole vault will all be featured. Heading into the evening of Day 1, the 3000m steeplechase, 5000m, 800m, and true mile will occur, where the women's steeplechase will start at 6:30 p.m.

The next day will have the rest of the field events at 11 a.m., starting with the women's high jump. High jump, discus, shot put, triple jump, and the women's pole vault will make up the field events going into the late afternoon. On the track, the 4x100m relays will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by the 800m open, 100m hurdles, 110m hurdles, 400m, 100m, 400m hurdles, 200m, mile, and 4x400m relay. All women's races will be followed by the men's races.

UP NEXT

After this weekend, the Gauchos will swing their focus over to preparing for the postseason, where the Outdoor Big West Multis will commence on May 9-10 and the Outdoor Big West Championships take place a week later on May 16-17. Both meets will occur in Long Beach, Calif.
