LONG BEACH, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Men's and Women's Track & Field teams will return to Long Beach for the second weekend in a row to compete in the latter half of the Big West Conference Championships. The Gauchos sent their heptathletes and decathletes to partake in the Multis, where senior Brad Thomas shined with a first-place finish and conference record of 8108 points. Santa Barbara will look to continue on that train of success this upcoming meet to advance to Outdoor Regionals. The meet will take place on May 16-17 at the Jack Rose Track.
MEET SCHEDULE
On the first day of competition, the Gauchos will compete in () field events and () track events. Field events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the men's hammer throw, followed by the long jump at 12 p.m., women's hammer throw at 12:30 p.m., men's shot put at 2:30 p.m., high jump at 3:30 p.m., and women's shot put at 4:30 p.m. Track events will mostly consist of trials with exceptions to the 3000m steeplechase and 10000m races. Events start at 1 p.m. with the 3000m steeplechase, then the 1500m at 2 p.m., 100m hurdles at 2:40 p.m., 110m hurdles at 3 p.m., 400m at 3:15 p.m., 100m at 3:45 p.m., 800m at 4:15 p.m., 400m hurdles at 4:45 p.m., 200m at 5:15 p.m., and the 10000m at 5:45 p.m.
The second day of field events will feature the women's javelin at 10 a.m., men's javelin at 12 p.m., pole vault at 1 p.m., women's discus at 1:30 p.m., triple jump at 3:30 p.m., and men's discus at 3:30 p.m. as well. On the track, all races will be finals, with the 4x100m relay starting things off at 2 p.m. After the end of the relay, the 1500m will be at 2:22 p.m., followed by the 100m hurdles at 2:42 p.m., 110m hurdles at 2:52 p.m., 400m at 3:02 p.m., 100m at 3:19 p.m., 800m at 3:36 p.m., 400m hurdles at 3:53 p.m., 200m at 4:13 p.m., 5000m at 4:28 p.m., and the 4x400m relay at 5:11 p.m.

With the Gauchos hoping to take care of business, the team will look forward to competing in Outdoor Regionals in College Station, Texas, a four-day meet occurring between May 28-31. The meet will be hosted by Texas A&M University.
