IRVINE, Calif. -- The third UC Santa Barbara freshman, Jaelyn Toledo, has been named The Big West Freshman of the Week. Her standout week has contributed to the Gauchos strong start to the conference season.

This past week Toledo hit .571 going 4-for-7 while scoring three runs and driving in two. Her discipline at the plate shows, picking up three walks and recording a .700 on base percentage along with not striking out over her 10 plate appearances.

The freshman has proved her impact on the field, helping lead UC Santa Barbara to a 11-1 start to Big West play. Toledo earns her first Player of the Week honor, while marking UC Santa Barbara's third freshman recipient this season and the program's fourth honor in the past five weeks.

Toledo and the Gauchos will host Hawai'i Friday, April 3 at 12 p.m. and Saturday, April 4 for a doubleheader at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available. ]
