HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated Vacaville High School… Swam under Coach Dave Van Buskirk… Awarded Most Improved (2013)… MVP (2015) and 2016… Team Captain (2016)… Swam on DART club team under Coach Billy Doughty… NCSA Junior Nationals qualifier
PERSONAL: Born Melissa Mullis on April 30, 1998… Nicknamed “Mullis”… Majoring in Psychology and Brain Sciences… Hopes of one day becoming a dermatologist… A unique skill is that she can lick her elbow… Lists her pre-race pump-up song as “In Too Deep” by Sum 41… Her favorite power snack is rice cakes… An activity she enjoys outside of the pool is hanging out at the beach… Favorite aspect of college swimming is having an amazing base of friends going into college as a freshman… Began swimming at age 13… If she could add an event to every meet it would be the 200 corkscrew… Getting a chance to be a lady gaucho on the UCSB swim team is the proudest achievement in her swimming career
