2017: As a true junior, made 12 appearances out of the pen ... Finished the year with a 1-0 record and a 7.04 ERA over 7 2/3 innings ... Tied for ninth in the Big West with four saves ... Had eight strikeouts on the year, making him one of three Gauchos to average over a strikeout per inning ... Struggled with command, walking 14 ... Was unscored upon in his first five outings of the season, from Feb. 16 to Mar. 5 (3.2 IP) ... Best outing of the year came on Mar. 18 against Stony Brook: struck out a pair and allowed no hits in one shutout inning of relief. 

2016: The team's opening day closer, Garcia went on to appear in 10 games, all in relief ... In 11.2 innings, he struck out 12 and compiled a 2.31 ERA ... Struggled with command, walking six ... Did not appear after May 7, and pitched just 1/3 of an inning after Apr. 9 ... Allowed no earned runs in his final five appearances, a span of six innings ... Didn't allow an earned run in 3 2/3 innings of work on the road.

2015: Appeared in 10 games as a true freshman, all in relief ... Didn't receive a decision, recorded a 6.30 ERA in 10 innings pitched ... Struck out batters for a 9.0 strikeout per nine innings average ... Didn't allow a run in the first three and four out of his first five outings ... Went on to allow a run in his final four apperances of the season ... Longest outing of the year was on Mar. 20, when he allowed one run but struck out three in 2 1/3 innings pitched ... Excelled over the summer for the Anchorage Bucs of the Alaska Baseball League ... Threw a no-hitter for the Bucs on Jun. 28 ... Struck out the last batter of the game on three pitches to complete the no-no ... Finished the summer with a 2-0 record, a 1.90 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings pitched over five outings. 

High School:  Played three years of varsity ball at Bishop Amat High School under head coach Andy Nieto ... Played third base and pitched for the Lancers ... Won the Division III CIF Championship in 2014 ... As a senior, went 8-3 with a 1.98 ERA, three shutouts, and 97 strikeouts in 70.2 IP ... As a junior, went 3-4 with a 2.40 ERA, still striking out over a batter per inning (53 K's in 49.2 IP) ... After his senior year, was named MVP of the Del Rey League ... Also named First Team All-League, Second Team All-CIF, and Second Team All-State.

Personal: Alejandro Garcia was born on Jun. 16, 1996 in Whittier, Calif. to parents Tom and Liz ... Has two sibilngs, Ashley and Ari ... Goes by the nickname "Garcy" ... Went 2-2 with a 2.93 ERA in 15.1 IP for the Victoria Harbour Cats of the West Coast League in the summer of 2014.
