Justin Jacome was promoted to Director of Baseball Operations prior to the 2020 season. The former Gaucho pitcher has been a member of the UC Santa Barbara Baseball coaching staff since the fall of 2017, when he was hired as an undergraduate assistant coach. In his current role, Jacome handles the logistics of running one of the top programs in the country, oversees the program’s group of student managers and interns and assists the rest of the coaching staff as needed. In his previous role as an undergraduate assistant coach, Jacome worked largely with the Gauchos’ pitching staff.
 
The Redlands, Calif. native had a superlative college career for the Gauchos from 2013-2015, with his 42 starts, 20 wins, 196 strikeouts and 279 1/3 innings pitched all still on the program’s career top-10 lists. He helped UC Santa Barbara reach NCAA Regionals in both 2013 and 2015, including hosting for the first time ever in 2015. Following that season, the All-Big West Second Teamer Jacome was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball Draft. He played two professional seasons in the Marlins’ minor league system, posting a 3.33 career ERA in 105 1/3 innings pitched.
