A former farmhand with the Chicago White Sox, Zach Etheredge isin his first season as a volunteer assistant coach at UCSB.
Etheredge joins the Gauchos after most recently working as anassistant coach for the Cotuit Kettleers of the prestigious CapeCod League.
A two-time All-Southland Conference selection as a catcher atthe University of Texas San Antonio, Etheredge will work withUCSB's catchers.
After graduating from UTSA in 2008 and holding a place in manyof the school's top-10 lists, he signed with the White Soxorganization.
Zach has also served as a head coach in the Texas Fury summerleague organization and was also an instructor at UTSA's summercamps.
A two-time team captain at UTSA, he helped lead the team to apair of Southland Conference crowns in his junior and seniorseasons.
Etheredge left UTSA ranked among the top 10 on the school'scareer charts in at-bats (third), doubles (fifth), games started(sixth), RBIs (sixth) and home runs (ninth).
