2015: Adding velocity to his fastball in the offseason, Mazza became an invaluable addition to UCSB's rotation ... Served mostly as a midweek starter and fill-in weekend starter, also made seven relief appearances ... Finished the regular season with a 6-1 record, 2.69 ERA, 72 strikeouts, and 26 walks in 77 innings pitched ... Team was 8-1-1 in his starts ... As a starter, he was 5-1 with a 2.55 ERA ... Out of the bullpen, was 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA and two saves ... His 8.42 strikeouts per nine innings ranked sixth in the Big West ... His WHIP (1.13) ranked 10th among conference pitchers ... Opposing hitters batted just .223 against him, 5th lowest in the Big West ... In two starts against USC, went 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA and 13 K's in 14.2 IP ... His best start of the year came at USC on Apr. 7, as he allowed just four hits over seven shutout innings in a 2-1 UCSB win ... 2014: Made 13 appearances as a sophomore, seven starts and six relief outings ... Went 3-2 with a 4.93 ERA to go along with 40 strikeouts, two quality starts, 10 walks, and 47 hits allowed in 49.1 innings pitched ... Allowed three earned runs or fewer in five of seven starts ... Had the best strikeout-to-walk ratio on the team at 4.0 ... His 1.8 walks per nine innings ranked third on the staff ... Stranded five of his nine inherited runners on the year ... Set a new career high by becoming the first Gaucho to reach double-digit strikeouts since 2012 when he fanned 10 Wagner batters on Mar. 23. He allowed four hits and one run in 7.2 innings pitched en route to a win in that matchup ... Allowed one earned run and struck out seven in 6.2 innings against Wichita State on Mar. 16 ... Earned the win and allowed just one hit over 5.2 relief innings against Cal St. Fullerton on Apr. 12 ... Was 1-1 with a 7.45 ERA in conference play ... In summer ball, played for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters: 2-2, 1.43 ERA, 44 IP, 50 K, 21 BB.

2013: In his freshman season for the Gauchos, Mazza appeared in 18 games to pitch 33.1 innings. Finished the season with a 3.78 ERA, 7 assists, 4 runners caught stealing, and 2 put outs. Totalled 27 strikeouts, averaging 7.29 strikeouts per game. At Texas (3/8) put up 5 strikeouts in just 2 innings while only allowing 1 hit.  

High School:  played his high school ball at Clayton Valley High in the Bay Area … Pitched for Coach Coakley and the Eagles … Posted a 1.6 ERA his senior year with 75 strikeouts … First Team All DVAL his junior and senior years … Won a section championship his freshman season … Also competed in golf.
