In his sophomore season Joe provided the Gauchos with tremendous defensive play behind the plate playing in 34 games and starting 29...led all Gaucho catchers with 33 assists...hit .146 over 82 total at bats...posted multiple RBI games 4 times...blasted 2 home runs on the year including one in the clutch in a win against Cal Poly on April 10.

As a freshman Joe started 18 games behind the plate and played in 22 overall ... Posted a .227 average with one home run and 8 RBI ...Made one appearance as a pitcher out of the bullpen ... Had his first career home run against Long Beach State on April 21 ... Went 2-for-4 with an RBI at Cal State Fullerton on April 17th... Had 14 assists without committing an error.
