After battling a staph infection early in the season, earned the starting left field position, appearing in 44 games and starting 34 ... Finished third on the team with a .324 batting average and nine doubles ... His .446 slugging percentage was tops among UCSB's regulars, while his .403 on-base percentage ranked just two points behind leader Robby Nesovic's .405 ... Received the Male Performance of the Year SB Award for his walk-off home run against No. 19 UC Irvine on May 5 ... Was named Big West Field Player of the Week on May 6 after going 8-14 with a 1.000 slugging percentage in a three-game series against UC Irvine ... Named to the Corvallis, Ore. All-Regional team after going 5-13 with a pair of runs scored ... Had a batting average of .324 in two-out situations ... Showed his clutch abilities with a .360 average with runners on ... Team went 23-11 in his starts ... Had 12 multi-hit games ... Finished the year with a six game hitting streak ... Was one of just three Gauchos to have a hitting streak of at least a dozen games.  

Summer 2012: Played for the Alaska Goldpanners for summer 2012, hitting .323.

Santa Barbara City College:  Played two seasons for Jeff Walker and the Vaqueros earning First Team All-Western State honors each year … Acumulated a .322 career average and 33 steals … Twice won Western State Conference championships … Made the Presidents Honor Roll in Spring 2011 and 2012 … was History Student of the Year twice.

High School:  Joey attended Miramonte High School in Orinda, CA where he earned four varsity letters for the Matadors and Head Coach Vince Dellaquila … played shortstop and center field … Swiped 56 bags during his career and boasted a career batting average of just around .400 … Earned NCS Scholar Athlete awards sophomore, junior. and senior seasons … Two-time First Team All-DVAL … Led the Matadors to a 2009 CIF North Coast Section Championship his senior year.
