Was named the National Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 31 after punching out a career-high 12 while allowing just four hits in a complete game effort against Long Beach State ... Pitched into the 7th inning or later in 31 of his final 32 career starts ... Other standout starts include eight shutout innings and 10 Ks in a 1-0 win against Oregon on Mar. 1, six shutout innings against Wichita State on Mar. 15, and eight shutout innings against UC Davis on May 2 ... 2014: Emerged as UCSB's Friday starter, making 12 starts ... Finished the year with an 8-2 record, 2.61 ERA, 47-19 K-BB, nine quality starts, and 75 hits allowed in 79.1 innings pitched ... Led the team in wins, starts, innings pitched, quality starts and strikeouts ... Pitched into the sixth inning in every start ... Allowed three earned runs or fewer in 10 of 12 starts ... Ranked second on the team in ERA, third in strikeout-to-walk ratio, and fourth in walks per nine innings ... His eight wins were tied for fifth-most among Big West pitchers ... Picked off four runners, a team-high and seventh-most among conference pitchers ... Really limited the running game; despite leading the team in innings, opposing runners attempted just three stolen bases against him and only one was successful ... Team was 9-3 in his starts ... Best start of the year came on Feb. 28 vs. Princeton, when he allowed no runs and just four hits in seven innings pitched while striking out a career-high seven batters ... Also allowed no earned runs in a May 9 start vs. CSUN ... Allowed one earned run in starts against Mississippi State (Mar. 7) and UC Davis (May 22) ... Was 3-2 with a 3.16 ERA in conference play ... In summer ball, was named an All-Star and won the Cape Cod League Championship with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox ...
