2016: As a true freshman, Hatton made 12 appearances for the Gauchos ... Started six games and piggy-backed with James Carter – who made controlled starts after recovering from Tommy John Surgery – on three more ... Ended the year with a 3-1 record, 4.21 ERA, and 32 strikeouts in 47 innings pitched ... Became UCSB's go-to midweek starter (or pseduo-starter behind Carter) by year's end ... Announced his presence with authority in his first collegiate start, tossing six innings of one-hit shutout ball with four strikeouts at Cal State Bakersfield on Mar. 22 ... Followed that up with six innings of two-run ball at Pepperdine in his next outing on Mar. 29 ... His next outing vs. the Waves, on May 3, yielded a season-high 10 strikeouts over six innings ... Other standout outings include six innings with no earned runs at St. Mary's on Apr. 26 and 4.2 IP of relief with no earned runs at UCLA on May 17 ... In his final start of the year, tossed a season-high seven innings against Gonzaga ...
