2015: The Gauchos’ primary third baseman (43 starts), he also made eight starts at second base and five at shortstop ... Ended the season with a team-high 214 at-bats to go along with a .294/.365/.369 slash line, 27 runs scored, 63 hits, eight doubles, two home runs, 24 RBIs, 24 walks, and 25 strikeouts... Had a 21-game hitting streak from 4/7 to 5/5, longest by a Gaucho this season ... Played 166 games in his UCSB caeer ... Was the only player to appear in every one of UCSB’s 58 games ... Hit .308 with runners on base and .375 with the bases loaded ... Hit .308 in conference play ... Committed just five errors on the season for a .969 fielding percentage, tops among primary non-1B UCSB infielders ... Had 18 multi-hit games, second on the team ... 2014: UCSB's starter at shortstop, Maris was one of three Gauchos to play in all 52 games ... Was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, an honor given to collegiate baseball's top all-around shortstop ... Put together a .271/.350/.340 slash line with 55 hits, a team-high 32 runs scored, 29 RBIs, 16 stolen bases (22 attempts), 20 walks, and seven HBPs in 203 at-bats ... Had the fourth most stolen bases and eighth most sac bunts (11) in the conference ... Hit .333 with runners on base ... Had an on-base percentage of .419 in leadoff at-bats ... Had 13 multi-hit and six multi-RBI games ... Had a 15-game reach-base streak from Mar. 9 to Apr. 5, the fourth longest streak on the team ... Had three hits on a trio of occassions ... Knocked in three runs twice ... Hit a go-ahead and eventual game-winning three-run home run at defending national champion UCLA on Feb. 25 ... 2013: In 22 games, Maris had 84 plate appearances for 12 hits and 6 walks ... Slammed 2 doubles and 2 home runs ... Finished the season with 14 RBIs and 10 runs ... In the infield, picked up 46 assists, 28 put outs and 5 double plays ... In his first game of the season at Fresno State (2/16), Maris recorded 4 put outs, 6 assists and 1 double play on top of 1 home run and 1 RBI.
2012: In his first season with the Gauchos, Peter provided Coach Checketts with a reliable defensive option at SS and 2B ... He appeared in 34 games starting 26 and batted .186 in 86 at-bats ... Season highlights included a clutch pinch hit RBI single in extra innings at USC on April 18 that helped seal a Gaucho victory ... Also had 2 hits and a walk against Cal Poly on May 20.
High School
A three-year letter winner for head coach Tom Faris at Dana Hills High ... He played shortstop for the Dolphins ... His junior year he was Second Team All-League batting .387 and was also the MVP in the Lions Tournament ... As a senior, he was First Team All-League, batting .294.
