• Rodney Boone was 2-1 with a 2.53 ERA in 21.1 innings in 2020.
• Recorded 31 strikeouts for an average of 13.08 per nine innings of work.
• All four of his appearances were starts.
• Allowed three hits, four walks and four earned runs in 3.0 innings in the season-opener at Sacramento State.
• In his final three appearances, two wins and a no-decision, Boone tossed 18.1 innings, striking out 26 and allowing just two runs, both earned, for a 0.98 ERA.
• Defeated Abilene Christian 7-0 on Feb. 21, allowing just two hits with eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
• Hurled a season-high 7.1 innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs while striking out 12 in a Feb. 28 no-decision vs. Illinois-Chicago.
• Pitched 5.1 scoreless, one-hit innings, earning the win at No. 25 Oregon State on Mar. 6.
2019 - Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year
The true freshman had an outstanding first season for the Gauchos as a left-handed starting pitcher…had a record of 8-0 and pitched a total of 81.0 innings…Ranked third on the team with 80 strikeouts and 8.89 strikeouts per 9 innings…Had an ERA of 2.78…Tallied the most runners caught with 7 and a .778 RCS percentage…In a hard-fought win over Nevada on (Mar 12), Boone went 7.1 innings and struck out 8 without allowing a run…Put together 7 brilliant games where he struck out at least six batters….Took a no-hitter into the eighth inning allowing just 1 hit, striking out 3 and walking only 1 batter in a win vs. Stephen F. Austin on (April 7)…Pitched a gem allowing just 1 run in 6.0 innings and striking out 10 batters in a blowout win vs. Missouri State on (Mar 24)…Tossed 7.2 innings of three-hit ball in a tight win over UC Davis on (April 20)…Boone’s most impressive outing of the season came in a pressure situation where he pitched 8.1 innings and had 12 strikeouts without allowing a run to lead the Gauchos over Cal Poly in the Season finale to clinch the first conference title for the Gauchos since 1986…Earned Big West co-pitcher of the week for his Cal Poly performance in the season finale…Awarded Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year… and 2nd Team All-Conference...
