2015: Returning for his senior season, Woodward was back to his old self after a down junior year, batting .308 with a career-best .419 OBP ... Had the ninth best OBP among Big West players ... Was hit by a pitch 12 times, extending his career program record ... Hit into just one double play, tied for Cameron Newell for the fewest among UCSB regulars ... Had a nine-game hit streak from Mar. 6-21 ... Hit just .225 in conference play ... Batted in the leadoff, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 spots in the lineup, with most his most starts coming in the three-hole ... Went 3-4 w/ a double and an RBI single at Sac St. on Mar. 7 ... Had a career-high five hits in an extra-inning loss to CSUN on Apr. 12 ... Along with Luke Swenson, one of two five-year members of the program on the 2015 team... Ranked fourth in the Big West and 57th nationally in HBP/game (0.29). 

2014: As a redshirt junior, "Woody" played in all 52 of the team's games, starting all but one ... Was hit by 21 pitches, setting a new single-season program record ... At the conclusion of the season, he was tied for the program lead in career HBPs with 36 ... Put up a .260/.364/.326 slash line with 47 hits, 30 runs scored, 10 extra-base hits, 22 RBIs, 11 walks, 21 strikeouts, and six stolen bases (seven attempts) in 181 at-bats ... After playing all over the field the year prior, all 51 of his starts came at second base ... Had 10 multi-hit games ... Opened the season by reaching base in 16 straight, then closed the season with a six-game reach base streak ... For the whole season, ranked first in the Big West in HBPs (21), seventh in assists (154), and eighth in sac bunts (11) ... Batted .203 in conference play ... Best offensive performance of the year came on May 18 at USF, when he went 3-4 with two doubles, two runs, and an RBI ... Went 2-3 with a season-high four RBIs on Mar. 2 against Princeton ... Was hit by a pitch multiple times in four different games ... Batted .319 with the bases empty and had a .460 OBP in leadoff at-bats, second best on the team ... 2013: Finished his redshirt sophomore season with a .330 batting average, ranking fourth on the team with 62 hits ... Reached base in his first 44 starts of the season ... Put up 34 runs, 34 RBIs, 10 doubles, two triples, and one home run ... Added 10 walks and 14 HBPs, recorded a .404 on base percentage ... Had multiple hits in 20 games, including a four-hit, four-RBI performance at UC Davis (May 23) ... Recorded a career-high five RBIs on May 17 against Pacific ... In the field, picked up 74 putouts, 107 assists and 22 double plays ... Earned Second Team All-Big West. 

2012
: Joe appeared in 13 games and started seven during his redshirt freshman campaign ... He hit .259, recording five RBIs and scoring six times in 27 at-bats... Had a stellar game at Nevada on Mar. 10, going 2-4 with two RBIs, a walk, and a run scored ... Had a four-game hit streak from Mar. 10-15 ... Didn't appear after Mar. 16.

2011: As a true freshman, Joe played in seven games with one start ... Had one hit in nine at-bats with one walk ... First career hit was as a pinch hitter on Apr. 19 against Pepperdine. Was granted a medical redshirt.

High School
Earned eight letters at Glendora High in three sports ... Was a four-time letterwinner in baseball for coach Dan Henley ... Also earned two letters each in football and soccer ... Helped lead the Tartans to the CIF Division II title as a senior ... Was named MVP of the championship game ... A First Team All-Sierra League selection as well as an All-San Gabriel Valley choice and an all-city pick ... As a senior Joe hit .418 with 19 RBIs, 24 runs scored, two home runs and 12 stolen bases ... Hit for the cycle and was 5-for-5 once against Colony High ... Was an All-Sierra League Academic selection in all four years and a Glendora High Scholar Athlete every year.
