Masterson was a large asset in the decathlon events for thegauchos…Posted best marks in the 100m, 400m, 1,500m,long jump, shot put, discuss throw, and decathlon throughoutthe season...Won the decathlon at Big West Championships.

Masterson came off a redshirt season more fired up thanever...He set an all time personal best in the Decathlon with atotal score of 7295 and nearly a thousand points better than hisprevious score he set in 2009.

Masterson took ninth at the Big West Championship decathlon with ascore of 5980, which included a first-place score in the shot putof 670 (42'9.50", 13.04m)...His best score in the decathlon was6463, which he achieved at the Sam Adams Multi-Events at UCSB'sPauley Track...Took second in the pole vault at the Big WestChallenge Cup with a clearance of 15'1" (4.60m)...Also led the teamin the long jump with a mark of 21'2.75" (6.47m).
High School
Was all-league in all four seasons and was All-Sac Joaquin Sectionone season...Holds Ponderosa High School records in the pole vault,long jump, triple jump, and 4x100m relay... Best marks in highschool were 16'2" in the pole vault, 22'3" in the long jump, and11.01 in the 100m.
Personal
Masterson is majoring in mechanical engineering...Interested inbikes, cars, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, and soccer.
