A talented high jumper and decathlete, Okpara returns for his junior season as one of the top decathletes in the Big West. Last season he claimed the fifth scoring spot at the Big West Championships in the high jump and had a seasons' best leap of 6'6.25.
2013-2014
Opened his sophomore campaign at the Gaucho Round-Up with a 21'4 long jump PR and a collegiate win in the high jump with a clearance of 6'4.75. Came back at the All-Cal with a 21'0 performance in the long jump. Won the UC Riverside Dual meet with a leap of 6'6 in the high jump. Scored a lifetimes best in the decathlon of 6,254 pts. at the UCR Spring Break Invite which included a 11.63 100m, 6'4.75 high jump, 16.66 110HH and a 50.37 400m performance. Scored 6,070 pts. at the Mt. Sac Relays in the decathlon including a personal best in the high jump at 6'6.25.Battled through the Big West Championships in the decathlon to an eighth place finish with a score of 5,880 pts. Bounced back the following week to place fifth in the conference meet in the high jump with a leap of 6'5.
2012-2013
Opened his freshman track season with a 4 x 400m relay win at the Gaucho Round-Up. Completed his first decathlon to take third at the Cal State Northridge Multi-Events with a score of 5,605 pts. Came back at the Sam Adams Invitational and scored 5,839 pts- highlights included a 50.46 400m and 20'3 long jump.At the Big West Championships, Okpara scored 5,802 pts. to take 11th overall in a meet where he racked up 7 collegiate PR's. Placed eighth in the Big West Championships in the high jump with a clearance of 6'1.5.

Okpara competed for the John Bosco Prep Braves. Competed in track, volleyball and basketball.
Personal
Parents are Rosaline and Neruka...Has two siblings, Norine and Britney...Is a member of the Black Student Union, Pan-African Student Union and the National Society of Black Engineers...Enjoys playing basketball, watching movies spending time with friends...Favorite aspect of college track is "pushing myself to be better than I ever could have imagined."
