In his second season competing in the decathlon, Oechsli scored 6267 at the Big West Championships, placing seventh overall. He significantly improved his javelin skills in 2015 and looks to develop into a conference performer in the event. Oechsli placed second in the decathlon 1,500m in 2015, part of a 1-2-3 showing for the Gauchos in the final event of the multi. 

2014-2015
Oechsli competed in eight meets during his sophomore campaign for the Gauchos. Opened the year with a then-best 153'4 javelin effort at the Round-Up. Recorded a jump of 6'2.25 in the HJ at the All-UC. At the Big West Double Dual, Oechsli saw action in the 200m, finishing in a time of 22.80. He also recorded a long jump of 21'9.5 to place seventh. Competed in his first decathlon of the year at the Mt. Sac Relays, scoring 6071. Oechsli used marks of 11.29 in the 100m, 51.11 in the 400m and 4:51.99 in the 1,500m to lead his scoring. Came back at the Cal Poly Dual, throwing a mark of 172 in the javelin to place seventh in a solid javelin competition between the two Central Coast schools. At the Big West Championships, Oechsli scored 6267 to place seventh in the decathlon. He close the meet in strong fashion, recording a javelin best of 173'7 and placing second in the 1,500m in a time of 4:45.12. Oechsli came back one week later and upped his javelin best to 174'1 in the open competition. 

2013-2014 
Oechsli saw action as a decathlete in his first season in the Gaucho blue. Placed fourth in the long jump in his first time contesting the event with a mark of 21'1.5 at the Gaucho Round-Up. Scored 5,874 pts. in his first decathlon at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invite, including a 49.72 in the 400m. 

Prep
Attended Agoura High School where he competed in the sprints and jumps for the Chargers. Helped the 4 x 400m relay squad qualify for the CIF-SS Finals as a senior. Earned All Maramonte League honors in track and field as a junior and senior. Also played Soccer. High school coach was Garrett Lipeto. 

Personal
Parents are Kathy and Mark...Has one sister, Sarah...Majoring in Physics...Aspires to become and Engineer...Personal hero is John Lennon...Enjoys rock climbing...Favorite band is The Beatles.
