An explosive mid-distance force, Vaziri punched NCAA First Round qualifying bids during his first three seasons as a Gaucho. In 2014 under the lights of APU, Vaziri lowered the UCSB school record in the 1,500m to 3:42.44. He is fifth all-time at UCSB in the 800m with a PR of 1:49.05. He is also a scoring threat in cross country, placing 12th overall in 2013 and fifth in 2014. Vaziri is an athlete who has the ability to shift the attention of a meet to whatever race he takes the line in.

2014 Cross Country
Ran No. 4 for the Gauchos at the Big West Championships, placing fifth overall in 24:12.7, Vaziri helped UCSB take home the Big West team title for the first time in 15 years. Developed into a legitimate cross country threat, consistently running in the top 5 for the Gauchos. Opened the season with a fourth place showing at the Lagoon Meet, running 25:15.39. Placed 18th overall at the UC Riverside Invite, clipping an 8k time of 24:45.4 and running No. 3 for the Gauchos. Again ran No. 3 for the Gauchos at the Stanford Invite, placing 11th with a fine 23:54.8 performance. Ran a strong No. 3 for the Gauchos at Pre-Nats, placing 90th overall with an 8k time of 25:23.3. Placed 49th at the NCAA West Regional, covering the 10k course in 30:26.8, running in the No. 4 spot for the Gauchos.
2013-2014 Track
Opened his junior campaign with a mile-3k double at the Gaucho-Round-Up, lowering his mile PR to 4:06.13. Came back with an 8:44.28 3,000m in a tune-up before the All-Cal. Won the 800m-1,500m double at the All-Cal with times of 1:52.20 and 3:46.74. Helped the Gauchos claim a dual meet victory against UC Riverside by winning the 800m in 1:51.37. Notched back to back 1,500m wins at the UCR Spring Break Invite and in his heat at the Stanford Invite with times of 3:44.62 and 3:48.90 respectively. Ran a then personal best at the Big West Challenge Cup in 1:50.08, indicating his speed was coming around. If there was any doubt whether Vaziri was ready to make the jump to the next level he laid it to rest at the Bryan Clay Invitational. running under the lights at Azusa Pacific, Vaziri ran his way to the UCSB school record in the 1,500m, firing off a 3:42.44. He broke the previous record of 3:43.80 held by Mike Chavez set back in 2007. He pulled off the 800m-1,500m double yet again at the Cal Poly Dual, winning both in 1:51.93 and 4:46.84 respectively, marking the fifth time in his UCSB career that he has successfully pulled off the double win in collegiate competition. Set a new personal best at the OXY Invite in the 800m, running 1:49.05. At the Big West Championships Vaziri placed second in an epic 1,500m battle with UC Davis' Nathan Strum, in 3:46.62. At the NCAA First Round he competed in the 1,500m and placed 26th with a time of 3:44.85.
2013 Cross Country
Ran in five races for the Gauchos. Opened the season with a 28:09.7 8k clip at the Lagoon Race. Came back at the UC Riverside invite to place 18th overall in 25:01.2, running in the No. 5 spot for the Gauchos. At the Santa Clara Invite he ran an 8k effort of 25:04, running No. 8 for the Gauchos. Had a breakthrough performance at the Big West Championships, placing 12th overall, running the hilly 8k course in 26:19.6, helping the Gauchos take second overall.
2012-2013
Won a total of 10 races during the course of his sophomore campaign. Went on to finish fourth at the Big West Championships in the 1500m. Seasons best 800m time came enroute to winning the Cal-Nevada title- that time of 1:50.17 also qualified him for his second NCAA First Round competition. Established a new PR at the Brian Clay Invitational in the 1500m with a time of 3:45.23. Pulled off wins in the rare 800m-1500m double in three competitions: All-Cal Challenge, UC Riverside Dual and the Big West Challenge.
2011-2012
Vaziri competed in the 800m, 1500m and 5k throughout the season…Placed fourth in the 1500 at Big West Championships where he ran 3:45.71…Qualified for NCAA Division 1 Championships in the 800m where he placed 29th…Also competed in the 4x400m relay where he helped his team place 17th.
Prep
Vaziri placed second in the 800m at the California State finals his senior year...Assisted the 4x400m relay team to a sixth place finish at the State finals...Currently the San Diego Section 800m high school record holder...San Diego Section CIF Champion in the 800m and the 4x400m relay in 2011.
